abstract: The research was performed in order to examine the influence of potassium fertilization on growth and decorative value (number and size of flowers) of celosia (Celosia argantea var. cristata L.). It was conducted in a glasshouse, during the years 2002-2003. Obtained results indicate that potassium fertilizers as well as their doses affect neither the growth of celosia nor the size of its flowers. However, potassium fertilizers influence the chemical composition of the plants. Furthermore, it was proved that cultivar ’Chif Red’, because of its intensive color, can be used in fresh and also dry flower compositions. The material does not lose its color nor decorative value, and remains stable.
