abstract: A test station was constructed and a methodology of sample preparation was developed for the measurement of geometric parameters of potato tubers using a video-computer method. The parameters measured included the length, width, thickness and volume of potato tubers and the tests were made for tubers of the Salto variety. The results obtained were compared with measurements performed using vernier callipers and a hydrostatic balance. The test station designed for the measurement of selected geometric parameters of potato tubers and image analysis software permit faster measurement of the selected parameters, as compared to traditional methods, as well as further computer processing of acquired images and data.
