abstract: The studies concerning the relationship between the climatic factors and the growth of young cherry trees in a nursery were conducted in the years 1998-2000 at the Felin Experimental Farm of the Lublin Agricultural University. The objects of investigations were cherry trees cv. Łutówka, grafted on the rootstocks: P-HL 84 (A), P-HL 6 (C), Colt and the seedlings of mahaleb cherry (Prunus mahaleb L.) and sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.). In this experiment, the relationship between the height increase of cherry trees and chosen climatic factors was determined. Big differentiation of weather conditions during the growing seasons of the years 1998-2000 affected significantly the proper growth of young trees in the nursery. It was shown that the height increase of young cherry trees on examined stock types in the periods of May-June and July-August depended significantly on the total of mean and maximum daily temperatures.
